Penthouse Two at Walker Tower Lists for $47.5 Million

The full-floor, 6,500-square-foot-plus residence hits the market following Penthouse One’s record-breaking contract of more than $50 million.

JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, the development team behind the highly successful luxury condominium building Walker Tower, have announced the release of Penthouse Two, a full-floor penthouse now on the market for $47.5 million. Located in the heart of Chelsea at 212 West 18th Street, the 6,515-square-foot residence includes five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms and 463 square feet of outdoor space. The announcement comes following last month’s contract signing of Walker Tower’s Penthouse One, which will set a new price record for a residential property in downtown Manhattan at a sale price of more than $50 million.

“There is no other building in Manhattan like Walker Tower,” said Elliott Joseph, a principal of Property Markets Group. “Like Penthouse One, which resulted in a record-breaking contract signing in just a month’s time, we expect equally strong interest in the even larger Penthouse Two.”

Penthouse Two, located on the entire 23rd floor of the 24-story building, includes three wood burning fireplaces with solid marble enclosures, an outdoor terrace and 360-degree unobstructed and protected Manhattan views. Additionally, the property features the largest tilt-and-turn windows in New York City, averaging 10 feet tall by five feet wide, 13-foot-plus coffered ceilings and hydronic radiant heated flooring throughout.

Walker Tower was originally designed by famed architect Ralph Walker and completed in 1929. The prestigious building was transformed into 47 luxury condominium residences by acclaimed architecture firm CetraRuddy. The building’s comprehensive amenities package includes a 24-hour doorman, concierge, library lounge with a bar and separate kitchen, children’s playroom, bicycle and stroller storage room, fitness center with yoga room and sauna, cold food storage and a landscaped common roof deck with dining area, sun lawn, observation area and covered cabana room.

Penthouse Two’s interior offers expansive entertaining and living space with French herringbone oak flooring throughout. A custom-paneled solid eight-foot-tall stained oak door opens to the penthouse’s formal entrance gallery and foyer. The residence also features a large living room and dining room with a south-facing private terrace and a family room. The gracious master bedroom suite offers stunning south and east views, a wood burning fireplace and a custom marble master bathroom with a steam shower, complete with over nine feet of windowed surroundings.

The kitchen includes marble and limestone countertops, custom Smallbone of Devizes cabinetry, Dornbracht fixtures, Nanz hardware and a Franke Water Filtration System. Top-of-the-line appliances include a Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler, a Viking Cooktop, a Viking double wall oven and warming drawer and a Miele speed oven and built-in coffee maker.

There is a zoned humidification system, an externally vented kitchen and laundry exhaust, and a state-of-the-art Creston Home Automation System with 9-inch touchscreen display, iPod dock, full lighting control, HVAC control, distributed audio, electronic shade control and full expansion capabilities for customized applications.
