Prestigious 112-Acre Brentwood Estate to be Auctioned
Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase the Robert Taylor Ranch — only 10 miles from Rodeo Drive — at live auction conducted by Concierge Auctions in cooperation with Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate
On November 30th one of the nation’s most prestigious estates will have a new owner. The Robert Taylor Ranch, a private, 112-acre property nestled in the Mandeville Canyon within Los Angeles’ affluent Brentwood neighborhood, only 10 miles from Rodeo Drive, will be sold during a live auction conducted by NYC-based Concierge Auctions. Originally listed for $65 million, the property will sell to the highest bidder without reserve in cooperation with Marcie Hartley and Aaron Kirman of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate.
“The Robert Taylor Ranch defines exclusivity. It lies within a prime location in Mandeville Canyon, known for its lush greenery, ideal for hiking, biking and horseback riding,” Hartley stated. “It’s an escape from the hustle of the city yet mere minutes from Los Angeles’ prime west side amenities.”
Robert Taylor Ranch is a secluded compound with 112 acres of rolling pastures and woodlands. While the current structures were built in 1950 for American petroleum businessman Waite Phillips and designed by iconic architect Robert Byrd, many consider the property ripe for potential future development.
The western-inspired ranch home contains 34 rooms over approximately 11,700 square feet including a master suite, five additional bedrooms and five bathrooms. There is also a guest wing, staff wing with three separate apartments, pool and cabana. Additional amenities on the property include a 10-car garage, office complex, guest studio, multiple horse stables, riding arenas, north-south tennis court, spacious pastures and private riding trails that lead to Will Rogers State Historic Park.
Remarkable for its location and setting, The Osterman Weekend, the 1983 Sam Peckinpah movie starring Dennis Hopper and Craig T. Nelson, among others, was filmed on the ranch. In 2010, Robert Taylor Ranch was sold to hedge fund New Stream Capital to settle a legal claim. New Stream filed for bankruptcy a year later, and the ranch is now owned by a trust.
Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains in one of the wealthiest and most exclusive enclaves in Los Angeles, the ranch’s prime location makes it accessible to all the city’s amenities. Brentwood is home to the characters in the television show Doogie Howser, M.D, and to the mansion depicted in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. In addition to Robert Taylor, other notable celebrities who live or have lived in the area include Marilyn Monroe, Phyllis Diller, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Maria Shriver, Ewan McGregor and Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen.
“The auction presents an opportunity to own one of the largest residential land offerings on the west side of Los Angeles, yet still be minutes from the best restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues,” Kirman stated. “Steeped in history, the property is an iconic Los Angeles landmark where Hollywood elite have often been entertained. It truly is legendary.”
“We are excited to be part of this monumental, once-in-a-lifetime auction. The Robert Taylor Ranch has a great history, but most notable are its location and size — and of course the seller’s motivation,” stated Laura Brady, President of Concierge Auctions. “To find over 100 acres this close to the heart of Los Angeles is unique in itself. Coupled with an owning trust that has requested a closing by the end of the year, there’s no denying this is one of the best luxury buying opportunities in the nation today.”
The auction of Robert Taylor Ranch will be held on November 30th. A 2.5% commission is offered to the buyer’s representing broker. The property is open for preview daily from 1 to 4 p.m. See Auction Terms and Conditions for full details. For more information visit BrentwoodEstateAuction.com or call 888.256.2806.
