REBNY SEEKING SUBMISSIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE’S TOP HONORS
AWARDS PRESENTED AT FASHION-THEMED GALA IN OCTOBER
Residential real estate’s biggest event of the year will also be this season’s most fashionable at The Real Estate Board of New York’s 24th Annual Residential Deal of the Year Awards and Charity Gala. The high-fashion theme of the event will honor the most notable residential sales and rental deals, as well as two industry professionals with The Henry Forster Award for lifetime achievement andThe Rookie Salesperson of the Year Award. Submissions for the awards are due by September 14th.
The event will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion on Thursday, October 25th featuring the designs of Cesar Galindo. Galindo will present his 2013 fashions in a special presentation for the guests of the Gala. In addition to having his own clothing line, Galindo has designed for The Miami City Ballet, Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana, Madonna, Chaka Khan, and Gwen Stefani, among others.
The REBNY Residential Brokerage Division accepts submissions for the Deal of the Year awards; eligible deals include re-sales, new development sales and rental transactions that have closed or will close during the period between September 16th, 2011 and September 14th, 2012.
Two of the coveted honors up for grabs will be the Most Promising Residential Rookie Salesperson of the Year and the Henry Forster Award. The Rookie award is for an agent or broker with two years or less in the business who has shown great promise and accomplishment. The Forster award is presented annually to the individual salesperson or broker whose outstanding record of achievement and conduct both within the industry and within the community has brought recognition to the profession.
In addition to the awards and fashion show, there will be a raffle with prizes from top-name designers. Proceeds from the raffle and the event fundThe REBNY Residential Member in Need Fund which gives financial grants to REBNY members facing hardship because of a physical illness or family crisis.
Steven Spinola, REBNY president, noted that over the last 24 years, the Gala event has raised more than $2 million for various charities including the Member in Need Fund.
“The Residential Deal of the Year Awards Gala is a must-attend event for industry professionals, not only for the awards presentation and for this year’s exciting theme, but because it’s a way for the industry to give back and help those in need,” said Barbara Fox, the co-chair of the Deal of the Year Committee, a group of ten industry professionals who oversee the planning of the event.

Deal of the Year Award winners are chosen anonymously through a judging committee. Only members of firms who have not submitted deal entries are allowed to judge.
