“Home Alone” House for Sale at $2.4 million
Being home alone might not seem like the most entertaining thing unless you’re living in this house. The home from the 90s classic “Home Alone” is currently up for sale at $2.4 million, according to a recent article on Yahoo Real Estate.
Approximately 20 miles north of downtown Chicago, the elegant and recognizable Georgian-style home is located on a quaint street in the village of Winnetka, Illinois.
In the movie, after Culkin’s character is accidentally left behind when his family vacations off to France, he is left home alone with the burden of two idiotic burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, whom he tries to ward away with booby traps.
The home played just as an important role in the classic comedy as the actors did themselves, while it was rigged with blow torches, flying paint cans and tarantulas to scare off the burglars. However, most of the action shots involving the home were filmed on a recreated set nearby.
According to Reuters, the current owners of the home are downsizing from this 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath home since their daughter is now grown. The couple lived in the home during the filming of “Home Alone,” when Culkin even befriended their daughter.
The home itself is nestled on .53 acres and features a gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, sunroom, dormered attic bedroom and detached garage. Winnetka is considered one of the richest villages in Illinois.
