Among home design trends highlighted on Twitter, those that seem the most accurate include more personal style, more color and a refined eclectic mix. Although some are touting 2011 as the year when color returns, 2010’s palette was also predicted to be anything but bland. Pantone Research last year picked turquoise as the color of the year. Expect to see more pink in the future since the 2011 color is Honeysuckle, a vibrant pink. “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going,” says Pantone’s Executive Director Lesley Elseman.

What’s ahead for luxury? After years of hype, authenticity is most important for high-net-worth consumers. A brand name no longer connotes luxury; rather the product, service or even a property has to deliver an exceptional experience. The only exceptions are tried and true names that have been luxury staples for generations. For 39 years, Unique Homes has helped consumers find the exceptional in real estate. In the upcoming year, our 40th, we plan to highlight the best in luxury locations, amenities and properties.
