New price for another Ultimate superstar, Porcupine Creek
Price cuts for trophy homes are almost becoming a trend. The most recent to have a price reduction is Porcupine Creek, a 249-acre estate located outside Palm Springs, Calif., in Rancho Mirage. The price was reduced to $55 million, down from the $75 million that placed the estate among the top 10 on Ultimate Home magazine’s list of the most expensive homes in the U.S.
The property includes a 25,000 square foot main residence and multiple ancillary buildings including four 600-square-foot casitas and four 1,860-square-foot guesthouses. In the main house, walls of windows open to the surrounding panorama of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the green valley below. Towering fireplaces, hand painted ceiling murals, and antique stained glass make it a distinctive but all welcoming residence.
The amenities are extensive. Along with spa facilities and a pool surrounded by a complement of resort-style amenities, there is an outdoor party grotto and a spa as well as a driving range. The children’s play area includes a circus carousel.
But the “pièce de résistance” is the 18-hole golf course with an additional challenge hole. Golf Digest ranked the course 13th best in California.
One of the most appealing aspects of the property, according to Jeff Hyland, who is listing the estate with his partner Rick Hilton at Hilton and Hyland in Beverly Hills and Tyler Morgan with Pacific Union GMAC in Palm Springs, is that no matter what is happening on the property the main house creates its own oasis of privacy.
Former Ultimate superstars with new prices include Villa del Lago and Portabello in Orange County. Just last month, Portabello came back on the market with a new price, $49.6 million, a significant reduction from the original $75 million. This year’s highest sales to date include Bootjack Ranch in Colorado and Le Belvédère in California, both of which had price reductions.
