Estates of Alpine Mansion on Market for $68 Million
The Stone Mansion of the Alpine Estate is on the market for $68 million. Yes, that’s right. And if it is bought for this price, it will be the highest U.S. home sale of the year. The Stone Mansion is listed by broker Dennis McCormack of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty.
The Alpine Estate itself, which totals 60-acres, was purchased in 2006 for $58 million, a national record for a private home sale at the time. The 30,000-square-foot Stone Mansion is one of eight residences located on the estate in Alpine, New Jersey, a mere eight miles from Manhattan.
In 2009, Alpine was named by Forbes as “America’s most expensive zip code,” so it is appropriate that the Stone Mansion resides here. But the mansion’s price is pertinent to its impeccable architectural features, lavish landscapes, and extraordinary amenities. Top architect James Paragano was hired to build the home, ensuring the utmost quality and the finest features for all aspects of the home.
The exterior of the Stone Mansion is suitably adorned with granite stonewalls with limestone window frames, copper accents, solid mahogany doors and a Vermont slate roof. With five-stories, the mansion has 12 bathrooms, 19 bedrooms, a library, a ballroom, a main kitchen, a catering kitchen, a basketball court, a movie theater, an 11-car garage and a large wine cellar accessible using thumbprint recognition software. Also, a saline pool and a tennis court were recently installed. Well-known English designer Christopher Peacock created the expansive kitchen, and the $2 million worth of antique chandeliers and sconces were purchased from renowned antiquarian Cedric Dupont.
