Couple finds their niche in the city’s smallest apartment
A pocket-sized apartment in Manhattan that holds two people and two cats was bought three months ago for $150,000, according to the New York Post and curbed.com.
This 175-square-foot studio on 110th Street belongs to Zaarath and Christopher Prokop, two accountants, who make their subway-car-sized home work by using every available space.
“We don’t cook,” Zaarath said. “So when you don’t cook, you don’t need plates or pots or pans. So we use that space for our clothes.”
Since the two accountants jog to work and pick up their office wear at the dry cleaners, there is no need for storage space.
The couple furnished their home with a queen-size bed, a flat-screen TV, a leather storage bench, and a shelf/wine rack.
After the mortgage is paid off in two years, the two will only have $700 in maintenance fees to pay and plan to remodel the space with a Murphy bed and larger windows.
