ASID Awards Interior Design Students and Professionals
Interior design students and professionals are invited by The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation to apply for six awards and scholarships that will range from monetary awards for contributions to the profession to scholarships for all levels of students.
Open to both members and nonmembers, ASID, which is accepting applications until January 15, 2010, assumes a responsibility to the profession through student development and research.
“This is a great way for students and professionals to be rewarded and recognized for their achievements,” says Nila R. Leiserowitz, FASID, ASID Foundation Chair. “I specifically want to encourage students to give something to themselves and their future by applying during their winter break.”
The Awards and Scholarships programs, which have no application fee, have been part of ASID since it was formed in 1975. The winners of last year participated in three specific awards, the Yale R. Burge Competition, the Joel Polsky Prize, and the Irene Winifred Eno Grant.
The Yale R. Burge Competition, won by Kristen Marie Lambrecht in 2009, is designed to encourage interior design students in their final year to plan their portfolios.
The Joel Polsky Prize, awarded lasy year to Buie Hardwood, Hon. FASID, recognizes outstanding academic contributions through literature or visual communication.
The Irene Winifred Eno Grant, which 2009 winner Cheryl Reams was honored with, provides assistance to people who are involved in the creation of an educational program or an interior design research project dedicated to health, safety and welfare.
