West Coast Design Firm Launches LEED Design Division
DEL MAR, Calif. — Leading Del Mar interior design firm, the Jennifer Adams Design Group, has announced its launch of a new division that will focus on sustainable projects.
The company’s new LEED design division will be headed by Julie Pierce, the firm’s Northwest division manager and one of only a handful of LEED accredited interior designers. LEED designing is not only environmentally friendly, but it’s economical as well.
“Building developers and buyers now realize that living in a smart, well-designed space can be much more economical than the ‘McMansions’ that we save over the past decade,” says Pierce.
It is very common for project developers to request that projects be sustainably designed and LEED certified. Jennifer Adams Design Group has seen a sharp increase in the number of projects that are required to be sustainable or fully LEED certified.
“It is our responsibility as designers to be on the cutting edge of trends as well as customer demand. Being sustainable, responsible and designing smarter, more efficient spaces is in high demand,” says Jennifer Adams, president of Jennifer Adams Design Group.
Jennifer Adams Design practices sustainability in multiple ways and in a number of environments — including residential, commercial and resort spaces. The company finds local furniture and finishing materials or uses salvaged materials; it has been utilizing this practice for several years. The new division also takes into consideration how an individual design element performs over time and how recyclable or reusable the product is when it comes time to dispose of it. Last, the company practices sustainable living by incorporating the maximum amount of daylight and the use of natural vented spaces.

I think the prestige of getting LEED certification will only grow over time. Certainly LEED certfiifcation is quite sought after in the commercial area as the post indicates.
