These Homes Don’t Wire Themselves
It’s amazing to think about all of the details that comprise a truly unique home. In a multimillion-dollar home, the floors, windows, trim, lighting, appliances, surfaces, and so on, are exquisite in and of themselves, but become truly impressive when paired with each other. One of the aspects that’s really taken center stage in the last 10-15 years is a home’s technological capabilities. From entertainment systems to security systems to being able to turn on your heat through the Internet, a modern home needs to be “smart”.
That’s where the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association comes in. An international trade association of companies that specialize in designing and installing electronic systems for the home, this association was founded 18 years ago and has more than 3,500 member companies worldwide. More than 29,000 professionals attended CEDIA’s EXPO in Denver this month. CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles Awards were announced at the EXPO trade show. The awards include honors for the five “best new products” on the trade show floor, outstanding CEDIA members, and excellence in the design and installation of residential electronic systems. Taking a look at these projects gives us an idea of what the industry values and what the future may hold for home technology.
The amazing home theater designed by the Medford, N.J.-based Frankentek, Inc., is a classic example of a posh, yet elegant, theater.
