Gimmick or Genius?
Ever heard of Agentopolis.com? Well, whether you’ve heard of it or not, if you’re a real estate agent or broker, you’re probably on it already. The site, which bills itself as the "Home to Over 1 Million Real Estate Agents," is designed to allow consumers to find a real estate agent in a certain area. You can search by specialty, languages spoken, gender and sexual preferences or even religious affiliations. The site’s founder, Ken Horst, bought a list of real estate professionals from Principe Programming to start the site, according to Inman News.
The site lists agents with basic contact information (address and phone number). Agents can visit the site to verify the info and can also have the option to augment their entry with a photo and a bio. This can be done for free, but the site charges agents to get themselves in the Top 25 results. It will be interesting to see if this site becomes a popular consumer tool.
